No pics, English Christmas

Greetings All,

As you all know from our many posts, we love being here and exploring the country and neighbouring ones as well. But, truly that is it. We are going somewhere else for this year's Christmas. Two year in a row, sick as dogs. And now stress over our little ones too. Poor darling Timothy temp over 40, stuck in a french hotel, we had to get a doctor in. Then coming back from Scotland, in York, all night in hospital with our sweet wee darling Matthew. IT as got to stop I say.

But enough said, we did have a lovely Christmas with the folks anyway and the trips were filled with wonderful accommodation and stunning scenery. Best accommodation in Stirling, outstanding on every level, 'The old tram house'. Thumbs up and five stars, definitely stay there if your in the area. Great people. So no pics from Lille, the folks got out but I spent most of the time in the hotel nursing Timothy. But do have some great pics from Scotland. I won't put many up as Ben will put up the big versions and give you some detail as to where they are in Scotland, I will just give you a taste of the super beauty found there....

Visa adventures and other news

Greetings all good folk out there and wishing you a lovely Merry season. I thought I would do a wordy type news post for a change. We have, since the birth of Matthew been busy and also had fun. We had a lovely visit from the wonderful Margaret, who is over here for a bit of a hol and working on investigating a music library.

We have also been around and about getting paperwork for the mini foozle. We first got the boy registered and then citizenshiped and after that it was off to London for a passport. The last stage of course was the visa to remain and we had to drive up through the groovy Derbyshire county to Sheffield for it. The boys were very good in the car, which gives me hope we may survive our mad capped plan to drive around Scotland after Christmas.

This week I have been very pleased with myself as I am starting to cope with two wee ones. The first time out, of course took me an hour to get them both in the car. I had to pause while getting ready to feed Matthew, stop Timothy destroying something or just taking his socks off while I was putting his shoes one. But by the end of the week I have managed to get both in, in under twenty minutes. I actually did too outings yesterday.

Monday week we are off to Lille in France to meet up with Ben's folks and check out the Christmas markets. Should be excellent, if cold. The we have Christmas day and Boxing day in Cambridge, where we will attempt to see the Christmas day service at Kings. After that we are off to Scotland via the Lakes on the way up and York on the way back.

Here are a few more pics. Mathhew in varies states of snooze, Timothy on his first merry-go-round and making oatcakes with Daddy and an awake pixie looking foozle.

Supper Nonna

A big Thank you and a Huge We Miss you to the best Nonna in the world. We loved having you and you were so wonderful. Nonna was here helping us out before and after the birth. She made the whole thing go much smoother and I didn't have to worry that Timothy wasn't being loved while I was gone. I miss the company and all the little things you did. Timothy misses you so much too, he sends his biggest kiss and hug of which he can ask for now. So thank you and we can't wait to see you in March.

Ticking with style

Now here is a clock with artist quality, engeering grooveness and just plain cool factor. It went up in Cambridge a little while ago

It was unveiled by Stephen Hawking, who has since left for Canada. We have got to look at it a number of times and there is always a crowd standing around. Anyway you should watch the video and if you do get to Cambridge you must check it out.

You may have noticed...

... that we have bought a video camera and that Eve has figured out how to upload to YouTube through iMovie. :-)

A couple more Matthew Piccies

For those folks who would like prints, the high resolutions images can be found here and here.

We'll get some pics of him awake up soon. The only problem is that he likes to sleep during the day and party at night... He is running on Sydney time I think.

Matthew Scott

Well, this morning Eve named the boy. Please welcome Matthew Scott Capper.

That's a lot of hair there my little lad!

Well, we're all home now. It will take a little while before we're organised enough to make calls and email individual folks as we're all still tired and out of whack. Thanks to all who have sent their congratulations!

Matthew has been a saint* so far, and has been easy work for mum. He feeds very well, and sleeps foozling quietly to himself giving mum a chance to recuperate. We'll see how long this lasts...

(*) Sorry!

New Family Member

I've just got back from the Hospital, where tonight (October 30) Eve has given birth to a little baby boy 7 pounds 11, born at 20:40. The lad is as yet unnamed, as Eve is far too tired and is hopefully now at last getting some sleep. When he's been given a bath in the morning she'll take a look and name the little guy.

In the now traditional Capper fashion, the birth was *awful* and I will be having nightmares about it for some time. Suffice to say the lad was eventually born in the theatre via forceps at Hinchinbrook hospital at Huntingdon (The Rosie at Cambridge being full when we called). Even though it was a forceps birth, the boy seems to be in excellent health and is awake, alert, breathing deeply and evenly (unlike Tim!), and isn't in the least bit fussed. He has some bruises but they'll vanish in a couple of days I'm told.

Eve took a beating though and will be sore for quite a while :-(. She did very well and I'm proud of her. Poor thing.

Full marks to the staff at Hinhingbrook who were really very good indeed (in my opinion! We'll see what Eve thinks tomorrow). Especially to the gallant and steady-handed Anaesthetist who managed to get an epidural in in difficult circumstances.

A couple of fairly low quality pictures attached. We'll get some better pics after he has been cleaned up in the morning.

Off to bed now.

Thanks too to Nonna for looking after Timothy while all of this was going on.
