Starting work while young

Tuesday was a lovely day as we were visited by to young ladies. Timothy and I thought we would show them how the garden work is to be done. Much better than real toys!

A weekend with the Foozle

Hello Everybody.

What fun we had this weekend. We went to a national trust estate, Wimpole, who had a tomato festival. Over 50 types to try. Timothy and Ben don't eat them raw but they had fun in the garden as you can see.

They also had lots of info on looking after your garden better and of course green choices. Here Timothy is learning which to compost, which to recycle and which to bin. You have to put the right bean bag in the hole.

We also had one of his little girlfriends over for dinner on Saturday night. They play so cute together and of course got up to mischief as you can see with the iron.

And here is Timothy having a go at feeding himself yoghurt. It was very colourful.

We have a train enthusiast among us and we aren't talking about our Thomas the Tank obsessed son. Yes I love trains. Old or new, they are a wonderful way to get around. No fuss no muss. I mean it is easier to get to Europe on a train than it is to fly.



Anyway we indulged in a little light train riding last weekend. Nene Valley Railway have some wonderful old trains and we got to go in a 1950's steamy. It was an hour ride each way, dropping us off in Peterborough where we got lunch and looked around. They do have Thomas the Tank Engine special weekends too so we will have to go back when they are on. We got to meet the driver and watch the fire where the coal gets shoveled in. We also saw the train take on water, all very groovy.



The trip was lovely, so sedate and with the steam, noise and motion, it was like being in an old film. High recommend it, we will of course be susing out other trips and believe there is a good one in Wales and already have our eye on one in Scotland for next summer.

Garden is looking good and producing plenty. We are look forward to the potatoes which should be another month or so and then we will finish out the gardening year with our pumpkins.

Fete

Wonderful fun at the local fete last weekend. We had our very own in Kingston as well as visiting friends in Shelford for they great feast day. Ben, Timothy and I all helped on the day for Kingston's Fete, I in the book stall, naturally. Ben was with the frames and pictures. We did quite well raising money for the church roof, along with everybody else. There were many lovely stalls with cakes, jams and preserves. They had pony rides, which Timothy just loved. There were games to be played and we even had music, a lady playing accordian and a scotman at the beginning playing the pipes.

The Shelford feast was also quite an experience though much larger. It had jumping castles, trampoline performances, live bands and roasting spit.
