English Wine Week

And I bet you were saying to yourselves that you didn't think England had wine but there you go. We had a lovely day out on a rare sunny afternoon to a small and very cute winery. They were giving away special wine tours as part of the promo and so we hopped along to walk about this amazing place. The land it was on has been farmed since 1000 AD when a 100 hectare were given to a lord of sorts. the land was then to support his family, including aunties, uncles, cousins etc as well as every body's servants. The oldest building was from the 13th century and was very cool with the wooden beams. We had a look around the press and all the wine making machinery which was very interesting. They do of course whites only as they don't have the weather with all for the reds though they are trying some.

They did have a very nice dry white which reminded us of home. All the grape varies were of German origin (so don't expect me to spell them for you). They had three other whites we could take or leave, and as it happened we left them. They also had two bubblies, one white and the other rose. Both were rather yummy so we took one of each. They also had excellent ice cream which the foozle and I sampled. We then left the place though did do some frollicking around the vines in the sun. see pics.
