View from my Desk

Been a bit since we posted something, so I thought I'd put this up.

This one is a shot of my desk and the view beyond. The view looks out through the doors to the grounds of the Hall. Very green, quiet, calm and relaxing. I've felt practically no work-related stress since starting here, and this view probably has something to do with it.

There's a fair bit of wildlife around the village. The pheasants have been parading about in the last month or so, and there are plenty of other birds flying about or forraging on the lawn. Apparently there are deer that come and go as well, but I haven't seen them yet.

The squirrels have been very busy in the last couple of weeks, running back and forth, forraging and defending their territory. I think they know that Winter isn't far off, and they are starting to get a little concerned about their preparedness. Regardless, it's fun to watch them scamper back and forth. Especially the way they run, kind of a leaping bouncy gallop, with their tails fluffily flopping around behind them.

This cute little guy popped up onto the porch just outside the door this afternoon.

Nice view from the office, Ben. Does it snow there in the winter? Jenny loves the squirrel pic, when we lived in the US, she would have them sitting on her lap while she fed them. Last night we went to a concert at the Pub with No Beer. Rose Tattoo, Hoodoo Gurus, & Barnesy were playing, it was a most enjoyable night out!! They have a micro brewery there with some very tasty beers.

Hey Larry.

Apparantly it occasionally snows here in the winter, but maybe only one or two days, and the snow dissappears pretty quickly...

Unfortunately the office is moving at the end of November to a garden variety office building, so I won't be here to see it. But if it snows here it should snow at our place too :-)

The south east of England I'm told is the warmest and driest part (relatively speaking!) so there isn't buch snow about.

The night out sounds unbelievably cool. I didn't know the Gurus were back together - I thought they were still doing the Persian Rugs thing.

Tell Jens that Eve is green with envy about the squirrels - is there some kind of trick you can use to attract them? There are loads here near work, but we haven't seen any in the village yet...

Squirrels make a damn good stew.
